Immunophenotyping lymphocyte and acute phase proteins in canine X-linked muscular dystrophy Anais da ABC (AABC)
ABREU,DILAYLA K. DE; MONTEIRO,JANAINA M.; SOUZA,CAROLINA C.; KARAM,RAFAEL G.; FERNANDES,RENATA A.; LESSA,THAIS B.; FAGLIARI,JOSÉ J.; MIGLINO,MARIA ANGELICA; AMBROSIO,CARLOS EDUARDO.
Abstract Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is the most common X-linked muscular disease affecting humans. The Golden Retriever Muscular Dystrophy model (GRMD) is considerthe most suitable for several studies. This assay aims to quantify lymphocyte subpopulations CD4, CD5, and CD8, and standardize, the serum electrophoretic profile, to understand their contribution to the pathologic process in normal Golden Retriever dogs (GR group) and dystrophic´s (GRMD group), through the umbilical cord blood, in dogs aged from 2 to 3 months (GR II and GRMD II), and in dogs over 1 year of age (GR III and GRMD III). No significant differences were observed between the CD8+ lymphocyte subpopulations of the groups studied. The CD4+ and CD5+ lymphocyte subpopulations were...

Leucogram and serum acute phase protein concentrations in queens submitted to conventional or videolaparoscopic ovariectomy Arq. Bras. Med. Vet. Zootec.
Alves,A.E.; Ribeiro,A.P.C.; Di Filippo,P.A.; Apparicio,M.F.; Fagliari,J.J.; Vicente,W.R.R..
Thirty health queens were submitted to ovariectomy by conventional technique or by videolaparoscopy. In order to study the intensity of inflammatory response by means of acute phase protein analysis and white blood cell count, serum samples were taken before and until 144 hours after the surgical procedures. The protein concentrations that were significantly increased 24 hours after surgical procedures were: ceruloplasmin, hemopexin, haptoglobin, and α1-acid glycoprotein, 69.8%, 103.5%, 117.3%, and 199.0%, respectively, for conventional ovariectomy; and 22.3%, 46.1%, 79.8%, and 74.6%, respectively, for laparoscopic ovariectomy. Therefore, inflammatory response was more intense in queens submitted to conventional ovariectomy. Results indicate that the...

Serum acute phase proteins in cows with SARA (Subacute Ruminal Acidosis) suspect Arq. Bras. Med. Vet. Zootec.
Cannizzo,C.; Gianesella,M.; Giudice,E.; Messina,V.; Piccione,G.; Morgante,M..
The aim of this study was to evaluate the variations of Acute Phase Proteins (APPs) and other blood constituents during the onset of the sub-acute ruminal acidosis (SARA) pathological status. A total of 108 cows from 12 dairy herds were randomly selected and divided into three Groups of 36 animals each. All animals were subjected to a rumenocentesis. Group A was composed by subjects with a rumen pH>5.8, Group B was composed by subjects with a rumen pH ≤5.5≤5.8 and Group C was composed by subjects with a rumen pH<5.5. Blood samples were collected by jugular venipuncture and Haptoglobin (Hp), Serum Amyloid A (SAA), Total Proteins, Albumin and White Blood Cells (WBC) were determined. One-way ANOVA showed a statistical significance on Rumen pH, Hp,...

Serum protein concentrations, including acute phase proteins, in calves with hepatogenous photosensitization Arq. Bras. Med. Vet. Zootec.
Fagliari,J.J.; Passipieri,M.; Okuda,H.T.; Silva,S.L.; Silva,P.C..
One hundred 6- to 12-month-old Nelore calves were allotted into control group (G1; 50 healthy calves) and photosensitization group (G2; n= 50). Blood samples were collected 12 to 24 hours after the onset of dermatitis (M1), and 15 to 30 days after that (M2), at time of resolution of clinical signs. Serum protein electrophoresis was performed by means of sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Eighteen serum proteins with molecular weights ranging from 16,000 to 189,000 daltons (Da) were identified in all calves. In M1 and M2 serum concentrations of proteins with molecular weights of 115,000Da (ceruloplasmin), 61,000Da (a1-antitrypsin), 45,000Da (haptoglobin), and 40,000Da (acid glycoprotein) were significantly increased in calves. In...
